The Interlaken region is considered one of the most beautiful regions in Switzerland. Its fame is practically worldwide. The city is located between two lakes (blue-green) and at the foot of monumental mountains. Close by you can find Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen, two small charming villages, with stunning mountains and alpine houses like in a fairy tale. Also, Lauterbrunnen is located in the valley of the 72 waterfalls. Some are right there in the middle of the village. It is a beauty without comparison!
No wonder, we prepared a two days, one night tour that includes all this beauty: the Interlaken – Grindelwald tour. It has an intense uphill climb, but with an e-bike everything is easier. This is the favourite tour of our guide Raquel Furtado.
In summer, enjoy the region’s hiking trails and the lakes of Brienz and Thun. You can swim and practice water activities in both of them. There are several beaches for you to enjoy with friends or family. Just be prepared, the water is very cold, around 18-20 degrees. A curiosity is that the Brienzersee is a little colder than the Thunersee – it receives the water from the glacier first. Because of that, the Thunersee is a little busier.
Another suggestion is to climb the Harder Kulm. The view from up there is incredible and the restaurant on top serves very tasty food.
Schynige Platte, an alpine botanical garden with beautiful flowers, is also worth a visit. Take the train in Wilderswil to get there. The train is 125 years old and takes you in an hour to the garden.
Of course, we must mention Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, and the small town Iseltwald. All are worth a visit.
In Grindelwald, you have to go to Grindelwald-First! In case you are there from June to September, our tip is that you make the trail to Bachalpsee, a beautiful and small blue lake. The trail starts at First and lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Lauterbrunnen is a very small but very charming village, especially during the warmer months! Located in the valley of the 72 waterfalls, there are always many waterfalls visible for you to enjoy. Don’t miss the Trümmelbach waterfalls, they are underground.
Iseltwald is another very small village at the lake, but one that deserves a visit for lunch on its way between Interlaken and Lucerne, for example. Enjoy and take some time to walk on the side banks and enjoy the view to the mountains. It will be impossible not to take a thousand pictures there.
